The implementation of a storage solution with a capital value of £3 million over a 28 week programme.
As a major UK ready meals manufacturer, it is crucial to maintain an agile supply chain to ensure that products reach suppliers and customers as agreed. This includes a number of activities and processes, an important one of which is storage. It is very important to have storage of adequate size and appropriate facilities for the products your company produces.
For our clients, increased demand was placing supply chain pressures on goods-in storage. The client was therefore looking for a storage solution, but was significantly constrained on capital expenditure within the parent group. As a long-term client with whom we have worked with on several capital expenditure projects over the last decade, they knew who to approach to help them implement and achieve their goals.
We supported the client in developing a solution that not only met their storage needs but also suited their budgetary constraints. The solution we created required a partial capital investment alongside a revenue based solution.
The development site was a new plot of land adjacent to the client’s existing main facility. Requiring extensive development, from new site roads, drainage, HGV holding and mains power distribution, the build was subject to planning permission. We managed the entire planning approval process, which included the commissioning of detailed archaeological and ecological surveys.
The necessary civil engineering works were all designed, procured and implemented under our management and even involved liaising with the rail authority due to the proximity of a local rail line to the build site. To improve logistics and health and safety, we also procured and integrated a leased modular building solution alongside the development to provide chilled and frozen ingredient storage.
