A £2.5 million project set over 32 weeks saw the development and extension of an existing factory to facilitate business expansion.

 

Established by award-winning food manufacturers Samworth Brothers in 1999, Kettleby Foods produces a range of high quality chilled ready meals to major retailers across the UK. Since production began with a range of just 11 pies, Kettleby Foods’ operations have since expanded to exceed over 120 products made from the finest ingredients and to the highest standards.

Kettleby Foods has earned a reputation for creating fine products from locally sourced ingredients wherever possible and with innovative ideas and processes. Continually identifying new cuisines, new flavours and new tastes, Kettleby Foods continues to provide ready meals for major retailers such as Tesco.  Part of the hugely successful Samworth Brothers group, Kettleby Foods maintains the attitude of its parent company: to provide the highest standard of products and service to its customers and their consumers at all times.

Our long-term partnership with Kettleby Foods has seen us assist with their expansion over three major projects and assist with developing capital expenditure plans. The first project was an expansion project that saw the development of an existing factory to house a cookhouse extension and a packaging and dry goods warehouse. It also included the installation of new tray wash, rack wash, cooking and cooling vessels. Additional relocation of a CIP plant and bulk chemical storage was also required.

The second project had a value of £2 million and had a programme of 28 weeks. The aim was a major expansion of the existing factory to incorporate a new potato facility in order to increase production levels by 30%. This required substantial internal alterations and extension work to improve amenities, low risk and high care production, and to install new offices and and a new product development presentation suite.

The third project we have undertaken for Kettleby Foods is the creation of a new high care holding and blast chills within their existing facility as well as extensions to the existing packaging store and boiler house. This will include the revision of all associated existing services. This project was set over a 16 week programme and had a value of £1.25 million.
